Jeralyn Lawrence '92
2009 Distinguished Alumni Honoree
Jeralyn Lawrence ’92, Esq., a member of Norris, McLaughlin and Marcus, devotes her practice to matrimonial, divorce and family law, and collaborative law. The public administration-criminal justice major who graduated from Kean University when it was Kean College, is certified by the Supreme Court of New Jersey as a Matrimonial Law Attorney and a Family/Divorce Mediator. She has also been trained in the practice of collaborative law. 

Abner Benisch '40
2009 Distinguished Alumni Honoree
Abner Benisch ’40 was an accomplished student and standout athlete for Kean University when it was known as Newark State Teachers College. A captain on both the tennis and basketball teams, Benisch went on to be inducted into the University’s Hall of Fame in 1983.

Michelle Scalera '74
2009 Distinguished Alumni Honoree
Michelle Scalera ’74 earned a bachelor of arts in art education from Kean University, which was then known as Kean College. Following graduation, she studied in Florence, Italy, where she earned a masters degree at University Internazionale dell' Arte in 1980. 

Michael Buono '88
2009 Distinguished Alumni Honoree
Michael Buono ’88 earned a degree in management science from Kean University (previously Kean College). He has over twenty years of experience in the materials management industry, specializing in alternative methods for waste collection, transportation, waste disposal, and recycling.

James Sloan '78
2009 Distinguished Alumni Honoree
James Sloan ’78 served as a lieutenant in the United States Army and began his public service career in Union County, New Jersey in 1970, where he was a police officer and investigator. He graduated magna cum laude with a bachelor of arts in political science from Kean University in 1978, when it was Kean College.
