George Falkowski ’83
was honored in May 2008, with the fourth Emmy Award in his broadcast
journalism career, receiving a NY Emmy Award in the category of Sports
Series for his series on the New Jersey Devils 25th anniversary in the
Garden State.
A 2007 Kean University Distinguished Alumni honoree,
Falkowski received a B.A. degree in English, Comparative Literature
from Kean College of New Jersey in 1983. He also received an M.A.
degree in Mass Communication from Emerson College, Boston in 1987.
He began his TV career in 1982 with
an internship at WWHT Newark Channel 68, where he worked on the
production staff of “The Uncle Floyd Show.” Later that year, he began
interning with SportsChannel New York (now Fox Sports), working at New
Jersey Devils and New York Islanders hockey games. For ten years he
also worked as a field producer for the New England Sports Network,
cable home of the Boston Red Sox and Boston Bruins.
Since 1996 Falkowski has been a
sports anchor with News 12 New Jersey, where he has covered all of the
major professional sports games in the New York and New Jersey area in
addition to high school and college sports.
In addition to the Emmy awards, the Scotch Plains native has earned an Edward R. Murrow regional award for his sports coverage.
